Ditching Gnome3. Back to classic mode.
I gave it a fair shot for 2 weeks.
Things I liked:
The interface. It rocks. Very fluid, unity-esque launchers without being stoopid about it (scrolling, seriously unity?).
The multi-desktop manager rocks. I love how it works.
Things I disliked:
Total lack of customization. This was a deal breaker for me. From what I hear, Gnome is going for a very sophisticated, consistent look. Screw that. This is Linux, give me options, else go peddle copies of windows.
Gnome-tweak-tool?
The biggest problem I had, right off the bat, was how all my fonts looked like chewed-up hamburger post installation. So I searched for settings, googled around, and got directed down the road of gnome-tweak-tool. From what I read, it would let me "tweak" the Gnome settings I didn't care for. However, I was not saved, as it would not install, and tripped all over some pythod dependency problems. Boo! I'd argue that I shouldn't have to install a third-party tool to optimize to begin with.
Day 1: My Week In The Nissan Leaf
A brand new Nissan Leaf rolled out off a car carrier and into my life earlier today. I plan on spending a good deal of time with this red devil over the coming week. You see, here at CrunchGear, there's been a raging format war of sorts. Devin, a hipster of a moderate degree, is very fond of the Nissan Leaf. He's proclaimed on numerous occasions that an EV is perfect car for him and he's going to replace his '91 Plymouth Voyager with one whenever

Damn.
I was going to try this place out too! But looking at yelp, you're not alone at all.
"My wife and I walked in with our Groupon coupon and very high hopes.
I ordered a sandwich and my wife, a mac & cheese dish. When we took out our coupon, the cashier said that since they got so many responses, the owner has decided that the coupon was no longer good for anything other than mac & cheese.
How can they change their offer AFTER selling coupons on Groupon
To add insult to injury, their attitude seemed to be like, "you Groupon people can't pay full price, we don't want you in here." Isn't the idea of offering a Groupon deal to get people INTO the place as opposed to pushing them out
Needless to say, we have contacted Groupon for a refund and the chance of ever getting us or anyone we know as a future customer got pushed out the door as we were."
Among the other reviews saying they not only suck food-wise, but for some reason hate Groupon users.

SAY Media Acquires Dogster (And Has More Acquisitions In The Works)
Just six months after its creation, SAY Media is already going to the dogs: it's acquired Dogster, a web community for dog-owners that draws around 2 million unique visitors a month. It's a move that sounds confusing at first, but also brings some clarity to SAY Media's mission. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SAY Media was born last fall when popular advertising network VideoEgg acquired struggling blogging platform Six Apart, in a unio

Shocked By News Corp Phone Hacking Revelations? Please. [TCTV]
Rick: "How can you close me up? On what grounds?"
Captain Renault: "I'm shocked - shocked! - to find that gambling is going on in here!"
Croupier: "Your winnings, sir."
Captain Renault: "Oh, thank you very much."
One has to mourn such a collective loss of innocence. The innocence of the British parliament tearfully quizzing News Corp executives over revelations that phone hacking was used in the pursuit of tabloid scoops. The innocence of those

Zing! Larry Page Calls Out ?Competitors? (aka Facebook) For Lack Of Social Data Portability
At the end of yesterday's Google earnings call, CEO Larry Page made a very interesting comment about data portability, Google+, and competitors (aka Facebook). In the call, an analyst asked Page what the most compelling reasons are to switch from existing social platforms to Google+ or if the company sees a future where people can be a part of multiple social networks and platforms (paraphrased, at the 57 minute mark in the call).
Page responded
